Björn Riska, Bildender Künstler, Finnland

Born 1984 in Jakobstad, Finland. He lives and works in Jakobstad. Graduated from Novia University of Applied Science with a BA in Fine Arts 2014. Art studies also at Muthesius Kunsthochschule in Kiel, Germany. Riska has been exhibiting in different group exhibitions in Finland 2011-2014. Björn Riska is working in the field of painting, both abstract and figurative. Space and time, form and formless includes his works. Riska often works with colorful paintings, but some of the works can also have a lack of colors. Some of the paintings approaches the viewers while others suck the viewer in, like an inhalation absorbing the viewer’s gaze. Riska explains his work like respiration, when he compares it to a rhythm of inhalation and exhalation. In his work there are a lack of borders, colors smoothly blends together and changes without no marked outlines that would separate them from each other’s. The colors are allowed to collide and rest next to each other. They blend and communicate without borders. In Riskas work time is present in the process of creating. But the time can also be read by the viewer in the layers the colors have been applied, a reading without words a reading of actions.

Ursula Sepponen, Bildende Künstlerin, Finnland

Born 1978 in Helsinki, Finland. Ursula is a visual artist working primarily with performance and video, but also with painting. She lives and works on Åland. She has been studying art in Finland, Denmark and Romania. Sepponen graduated as a visual artist from the Novia University of Applied Sciences in 2014. In her performances, Sepponen often uses elements from her stays abroad. She also draws inspiration from her previous career in fashion as well as travel and tourism industries. Since the body has always been a key instrument in her work, performance became a natural part of her art already as a student. Sepponen has been participating in and organizing performance events in Finland and other Nordic countries. Her work has been exhibited in Finland, Denmark and Estonia. Her documentary film “Ett andra hem” (“a second home”) was shown at Filmfestival Vera in 2014. Sepponen’s work is an attempt to find an understandable pattern for her thoughts on society and life, the power to create is affected by her meetings with people. Behind Sepponen´s work there are different existential questions and a constant striving for freedom, a freedom which can destroy or seduce.

Brit Dyrnes, Bildende Künstlerin, Norwegen

Born 1955 in Trondheim, Norway. Educated from the Academy of Art in Trondheim, Norway and Staatliche Akademie der Bildenden Künste Stuttgart, Germany. Dyrnes has worked as an artist since 1979. From 1985 she has completed 35 decorative commissions to public buildings for the government.
The significance of visual aesthetic qualities in the public domain, which has been so prominent in the social debate of the nineties in Norway, has been a central theme in Dyrnes´ artistic intensions. The numerous projects in which she has been involved in recent years express both her conscious positioning and strong social engament in this theme.
Brit Dyrnes also participated in the design and the artistic idea of Lærdals-tunell in Norway in cooperation with SINTEF and Statens Vegvesen, Sogn og Fjordane. And the Quinling Zhongnan tunnel in China.
