Biography - Last Five Years

 

Born and Educated to Masters level in the UK, Christine has been employed as a Lecturer in Fine Art in Ireland for over twenty years. 
 Currently Lecturing on Aspects of Fine Art Practice, Research and Professional Practice Methodologies. Christine works with (Hons) Degree and Masters (by research) students and acts as a Mentor for new Supervisors at the CIT Crawford College of Art and Design, Cork, Ireland’s second city.

She is also the International Coordinator for Fine Art and Ceramics, organising Student & Staff exchange & instigating other International Initiatives most recently with Shanghai China.

Over the past five years she has been a visiting/guest lecturer in the Fine Arts Departments at Northumbria University, Newcastle Upon Tyne, U.K, Artez Institute of The Arts, Holland, Lahti University of Applied Sciences, Finland, Southern Virginia University. USA.

As an active contemporary artist/practitioner her research area investigates- The Efficacy of Significance the Insignificant Object or Substance made venerable, monumental and epic through its context. It examines how we identify significant objects, and the primarily methodologies and mechanisms use to convey their significance. The resultant works manifest as large format Inkjet prints and sound pieces.

Christine has received Fellowships Artists Residencies and Awards in 2009 Artist in Residence. Art Science and Technology Research Collaboration. CAMAC Centre, France. A Tenot Foundation Bursary recipient and a Cork Institute of Technology Grant for the Research Project. 2008 Full Fellowship Virginia Centre for the Creative Arts in United States and at the Sanskritti Institute, Delhi, India. In 2009 she was Appointed Chair of Visual Arts Selection Panel for New Now - Vilnius 09 Festival of Emerging Artists in Europe, organised through ELIA the European League of Institute of the Arts and was reappointed Selection Panel Member of Visual Arts Discipline for New Now - Nantes 2010.

In 2011 Worked as an external peer reviewer evaluating applications for The Austrian Federal Ministry of Science and Research, Program for Arts-based Research. (PEEK).

Currently Christine sits on the Steering Group for Paradox the Fine Art European forum, where she was the project manager in Cork for Paradoxs' three day Conference and Urban Fabric Student Field Project, Outside In the Permeable art school in September 2011 
She is currently a member of the ELIA’s (The European League of Institutes of the Arts) Representative Board which she joined at the Conference in Nantes 2010
