Agnes Carbrey received her MFA from the Parsons School of Design, New School for Social Research, New York City, and her BFA from Kansas City Art Institute. Her work features figurative painting, as well as nstallation and collaborative art projects, Carbrey’s recent show was “Hearts in the Valley†at Virginia Tech Perspectives Gallery. Her work has been featured in numerous museum shows, including Gibbes Museum in Charleston, Museum of the American Indian of the Heye Foundation, Muscarelle Museum at the College of William and Mary, the Smithsonian, Bronx Museum of the Arts, and the Union Theological Seminary. Paintings and drawings have been selected for public and corporate collections, including Federal Reserve Bank, Capitol One, Richmond Times Dispatch, Lynchburg College and Washington and Lee University. She has shown her work throughout the US and abroad in Germany and France. Carbrey was selected for the Artist-in-Residence Program by the New York State Council for the Arts and awarded special distinction in the visual arts by the Bronx Council for Environmental Quality. The recurrent theme in all of her work is the human form. Installation and recent collaborative projects organized by Agnes Carbrey have been funded by Mid-Atlantic Arts Foundation and Washington and Lee University.
