ANN MARIE ROUSSEAU

A.M. Rousseau is a multi-disciplined photographer, artist and writer who has exhibited her work in solo shows in the United States, Europe and Japan. Her work has been published in magazines including Life Magazine, The Photo Review, Art in America, Vogue Mexico, The San Francisco Chronicle, The New York Times, The Boston Globe and the New York Daily News. Her profiles of photographers and her critical writings have appeared in Photo Review, Fotophile, and Photo Metro.

She is the recipient of a National Endowment in the Arts Fellowship, The Djerassi Foundation Affymax Fellowship, the Rockefeller Foundation’s Bellagio Artist Residency, Yaddo Artist residency, the Virginia Center for the Arts residency, Oberpfälzer Khunstlerhaus, Kebbelvilla Schwandorf-Fronberg, U.S.- German Exchange Program, the Manhattan Borough President’s Award for Excellence and Service in the Arts, and the Harc Foundation Award in California, USA.Â

She received her undergraduate degree from the Massachusetts College of Art, Boston, and a Master’s Degree in Fine art from Pratt Institute, Brooklyn, NY. She also attended the New York Studio School for Painting and Sculpture and the Skowhegan School for Painting and Sculpture.Â

Trained as a painter, Rousseau has always pursed a practice of drawing on paper. Drawings from the series, “A Hundred Points on a Line,” were exhibited recently at Campognone Projects Gallery in Pomona, CA. Her paintings from the series “Sight Lines” were exhibited in a solo show at the Lancaster Museum, CA, in January 2013. She currently resides in Costa Mesa, CA with her husband and fourteen year-old daughter.
